Today we hosted Senator Richard Lugar
                 Incumbent US Senate

Today we were honored to host Senator Richard Lugar, the longest
serving Senator in Indiana history!

White County Tea Party Patriots filled the room with a crowd of
more than 70 constituents. Senator Lugar was delighted to be with
us and thanked us for the opportunity to gather with a Tea Party
that accorded him the respect and courtesy that his position
deserves. That is not to say that he was given all easy questions.
That was not the case. He responded graciously and directly though
he did not answer some of the questions completely.

To the observant listener, he provided insight into his relationship
with President Obama  when they were on an official visit to
Russia. Mr. Obama was a US senator at that time and one can
surmise that a bond of friendship stemming from the shared
common experience developed.  By examining this theory one
can better understand how it was that Senator Lugar voted for
the confirmation of  Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, both quite
liberal and whose views are contrary to that of conservatives.

Some his answers were much too brief. Acknowledging that
the Senator is a Rhodes Scholar, one must understand that this
requires a two year program promoting the concept of globalism.
When asked if he believed in a one world government his answer
was simply one word: NO. He did not wish to elaborate on this
subject.
But if one were to look at the history of his Foreign Policies and
voting record it would be easily recognized that everything he has
accomplished shifts towards International one world governance.
Lugar favors our involvement with  the United Nations.

When asked if he interpreted the 2nd amendment phrase, 'A well
regulated Militia' to be the military/national guard or the people?
He seemed to ramble a bit and never answered yes or no. Though
he agreed our military must be armed with state of the art weapons
to protect our nation, he clearly indicated he was not in favor of
private citizens carrying concealed weapons.

When asked about his offensive "Get Real" and "Republican
Renegades" comments to the Tea Party. The Senator explained that
he had been publicly criticized by two people who
claim to
represent the Indiana Tea Party. This criticism came after Lugar
gave a detailed explanation of  why he supported the S.T.A.R.T.
Treaty. While he did apologize to the 70 people at our meeting...one
of our members suggested he'd rather Senator Lugar apologize to
the
entire Indiana Tea Party movement, maybe on Face the Nation.

While Senator Lugar would like us to believe that he is "just like
us", he clearly does not support many of the principles of the Tea
Party movement. There is a widely held belief among many
conservatives that he has been in Washington so long that he has
become "one of them".  Responding to the last question from the
audience, "Senator Lugar, why don't you just step down?", he said
he wanted to continue to serve America for as long as he could
serve. In answer to that, some of us would agree, but only if he
would switch to the Democrat party.

We thank Senator Lugar for taking the time to come and speak
with us. We wish him luck in 2012.
