White County Tea Party Patriots held their first meeting Monday evening in
Monticello. People arrived from Wabash and Pulaski counties for this
historical meeting. A total of sixteen were present. Standing room only!

White County Tea Party Patriots is a non-partisan grassroots organization of
individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of
Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of
Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the
strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic
responsibility at the local level.

Indiana petitions for primary ballot placement as a candidate for US Senator
were signed at our meeting. Both Don Bates and Richard Behney received
signatures and support from our group.

Birch Evans "Evan" Bayh III has served as the junior U.S. Senator from
Indiana since 1999, previously held by his father, Birch Bayh. He earlier
served as Governor of Indiana. As Governor he successfully advocated for
state welfare reform, tax cuts, and fiscal discipline. Somewhere along the
path he lost his way. Bayh first held public office as the Secretary of State of
Indiana, elected in 1986.
For the past 25 years Evan Bayh has not held a 'real' job.
He has lost touch with the real people on the ground.
He is not entitled to this Senate seat. This seat is earned.
'This is the people's seat'

Further discussion moved to our guest speaker, Shannon Mattix, White
County GOP Chairman. Shannon very generously offered his office for our
first meeting.
He explained that the party is based on Conservative values, and
Conservatism is under attack in America. Some Republicans lost their way,
and they paid the price in 2008, we hope they have learned from their
mistakes! He went on to answer all of our questions.

The Republican party stresses liberty and rights as central values, makes the
people as a whole sovereign,  rejects inherited political power, expects
citizens to be independent in their performance of civic duties, and vilifies
corruption. Wonderful ideals! If they held true today.
Somewhere along the path they too have lost their way.

The purpose of Tea Parties nationwide is to bring these principles and values
back to the American people. Our mission is to attract, educate, organize,
and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with three
core values.
Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free
Markets.
We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a
nation whose people were granted "unalienable rights" by our Creator.
Chiefly among these are the rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness."

We stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and
duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the
founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private
property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the
individual.
